Preisplakette und Plastik für den Deutschen Architekturpreis und den Deutschen Ingenieurbaupreis

Die offene und transformative Konstruktion in der Plastik aus Beton und Metall, deren äussere Form je nach Betrachtung changiert, weitet den Blick und soll für einen offenen Umgang mit den ökologischen, ökonomischen, sowie sozioökonomischen Themen und Herausforderungen in unser Zeit symbolisieren – „Think out of the Box“ ist hier ein Gedanke.

Die Anmutung der architektonischen Form wechselt dabei von Stabilität und Schwere bis hin zu Fragilität und Leichtigkeit, von Grundsolide bis Auf-die-Spitze-getrieben. Die beiden Elemente Beton und Metall ergänzen und umschliessen sich gleichermassen zu einem Objekt. Ein Teil kommt nicht ohne dem anderen aus, bildet allein kein schlüssiges Ganzes.

Tragende und ruhende Teile sind im Wechselspiel, Fragmente aus Decke, Wand und Fundament bilden eine luftdurchlässige neue Einheit. Die Plakette aus Messing ordnet sich dem Gesamtkonzept der Plastik in Hinsicht auf Quader als Grundform und offener / aufbrechender Konstruktion ein und bildet eine optische Einheit.

Award plaque and plastic for the German Architecture Prize and the German Civil Engineering Prize

The open and transformative sculpture made of concrete and metal, whose external form shifts depending on the perspective, broadens the view and aims to symbolize an open approach to the ecological, economic, and socio-economic themes and challenges of our time – “Think out of the Box” is a guiding idea here.

The appearance of the architectural form oscillates between stability and heaviness to fragility and lightness, from solid grounding to extreme refinement. The two elements, concrete and metal, complement and encase each other equally to form a single object. One part cannot exist without the other, as neither alone forms a coherent whole.

Supporting and resting parts interact dynamically, with fragments of ceiling, wall, and foundation forming a permeable new unity. The brass plaque aligns with the overall concept of the sculpture, based on the cube as a fundamental shape and an open/breaking construction, creating a visual unity.
